Dr. Hossein Hakimpour is a strategy and marketing consultant, Chartered Marketer (CM), educator, researcher, and senior academic leader with more than two decades of experience in strategic management, strategic marketing, organizational development, higher education, and executive advisory services. He is a Senior Lecturer at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Vancouver Campus and the Founder and Strategic Advisor of H&H Business Insights in Vancouver, Canada.
He holds a PhD in Business Administration with a specialization in Strategic Marketing. His doctoral research examined the link between strategic marketing planning and SME performance, which still shapes his work with entrepreneurs and growing businesses. He also holds the Chartered Marketer designation from the Canadian Marketing Association.
Through H&H Business Insights and his independent practice, he has advised startups, SMEs, and organizations in banking, insurance, technology, professional services, and the public sector. His work covers strategic planning, growth strategy, market positioning, competitive analysis, organizational development, business transformation, performance management, and technology-enabled improvement. He has also designed and delivered executive workshops on strategic thinking, leadership, negotiation, CRM adoption, and organizational performance.
Before moving to Canada, he held senior academic and executive leadership roles, including Vice Chancellor within a university system of five universities, more than 400 faculty and staff, and over 18,000 students. This mix of executive leadership, consulting, and academic expertise lets him approach organizational challenges from both a strategic and an implementation point of view.
His current work focuses on where strategy meets artificial intelligence, helping organizations use AI, foresight, and advanced analytics to strengthen decision-making, innovation, and capabilities, while keeping human judgment, critical thinking, and a long-term view at the center. He works with leaders to clarify strategic priorities, find growth opportunities, navigate uncertainty, and turn strategy into practical, measurable action.

Effective strategy must connect rigorous analysis with practical managerial action. Clients move from symptoms to the underlying strategic issue, weigh internal capabilities against market conditions, compare realistic alternatives, and turn their choices into priorities they can carry out.
Where it fits, AI supports this process through analysis, scenario development, strategic questioning, and decision support. It does not replace managerial judgment.
Dr. Hakimpour has advised private, public, and nonprofit organizations. Between 2014 and 2023 he led consulting and strategic advisory engagements in banking, insurance, manufacturing, tourism, municipal government, economic development, and the startup and SME ecosystem.
Work with Bank Mehr Eghtesad, Bank Melli, Bank Keshavarzi, Kosar Insurance, and Pasargad Insurance, covering strategic analysis, planning, marketing, organizational assessment, and recommendations to strengthen organizational and market performance.
Strategic planning and advisory services for municipalities and public-sector organizations in South Khorasan Province, and for organizations in tourism, manufacturing, and industrial development, including Birjand Tourism Hotel, the provincial Industry, Mining and Trade Organization, and Mehraskavir Co.
Through the South Khorasan Science and Technology Park, he gave strategic planning and strategic marketing consultation to startups and small businesses, helping management teams examine their markets, clarify competitive positioning, set strategic priorities, and develop practical growth directions.
A growing focus of his work is the integration of artificial intelligence with strategic thinking and managerial decision-making. Rather than treating AI as only an automation or productivity tool, he shows managers how to use it to strengthen environmental analysis, challenge assumptions, explore alternative strategic scenarios, improve strategic questioning, and support better managerial judgment, while keeping the critical thinking and human judgment that consequential decisions need.
He is the author of Strategic Thinking with AI: Foresight, Tools, and Leadership for the Digital Age, published by Palgrave Macmillan / Springer Nature in 2026. His ongoing research on AI-assisted strategic thinking includes the AIRP-S framework and a funded project on how AI influences strategic thinking. This gives his consulting and executive-development work an evidence-based foundation for the responsible use of AI in strategic management.
Before relocating to Canada, Dr. Hakimpour held senior leadership roles in higher education, including Vice Chancellor for Development and Resources Management, Academic Vice Chancellor, Head of Graduate Studies, and Head of the Management Department.
His responsibilities covered strategic planning, resource allocation, organizational development, academic administration, human resources, budgeting, institutional performance, and complex stakeholder relationships. This background shapes his approach: a strategy is only as good as the capabilities, resources, leadership processes, and implementation mechanisms behind it.
With more than two decades of university teaching experience, he now teaches business and management courses in Canada. His teaching and research cover strategic management, strategic marketing, leadership, financial administration, organizational management, and AI-assisted strategic decision-making.
He is active in academic research and professional knowledge development, with a current portfolio that includes the CAD $7,200 SSAF-funded project on AI-assisted strategic thinking, the AIRP-S framework, and international research collaboration. He has also reviewed for scholarly conferences and journals, including the European Journal of Marketing.
